IGA Interview Tips

When you interview with IGA human resource personnel, make an impression by using these interview tips.

Tip # 1.Research the company, and come up with a list of reasons you want to work for IGA based on what you learn in your research.  This will show the hiring manager that you are truly interested in working for the company.

Tip # 2.Smile and make eye contact throughout.  IGA is a company that prides itself on friendly, neighborly service, so the hiring manager will be looking to hire someone with those qualities.

Tip # 3.Prepare a list of questions to ask the hiring manager during the interview.  Demonstrate that you understand that this company provides the hiring manager’s livelihood, and that you want it to provide yours, as well.

Tip # 4.If you have never worked in a grocery store, reflect on how your prior experience and skills translate to a job with IGA.

IGA Interview Questions

The interview questions that will be asked will mainly focus on your work experience and skills. Study them so that you are fully prepared for your interview.

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why do you want to work at IGA, as opposed to a large chain store?
  • What is your availability?
  • How did your last job prepare you for a job at IGA?
  • What does customer service mean to you?
  • What would you do if you saw a coworker stealing money from the cash register?
  • Do you enjoy working on a team?
  • What are some challenges that a local grocery store faces?

IGA Interview Process

During the IGA interview process, job candidates may be asked to take drug tests, background checks, and behavior assessments in order to be considered for employment.  IGA hires people for a large variety of positions.  Depending on the position, a candidate may participate in one-on-one interviews, telephone interviews, and group or panel interviews.  The interviews cover a number of subject areas, such as grocery store operations, prior job experience, educational background, and customer service philosophies. Generally speaking, hiring managers do not offer positions as a part of the interview process.  Candidates are urged to contact the manager within two weeks of the interview.

What to Wear – Wearing proper interview attire for an interview with IGA is incredibly important.  Dress appropriately, in business casual clothing.

What to Bring to the Interview – You might want to bring a copy of your resume, as well as letters of reference, to your interview.
